About Me
My name is Nolan Arthur Stadder, and I am a character designer, VisDev artist and 2d animator based in Windsor, Ontario. I have a BFA in Visual Art from the University of Windsor and I have been drawing since the ripe age of one! Character design and visual development are my passion.

I consider myself a traditional artist who is re-imagining classic animated film. I aim to give whimsical images a sense of reality. As a dancer, I have an appreciation for motion that aids my fluid character design. I know body movements well, and I like to sketch in loose lines.
I draw what brings me joy. I use ProCreate on my iPad Pro, but I also employ watercolour, acrylic, ink, gouache, pencil, charcoal, graphite, and more. I love the mid-century modern aesthetic as well as Fantasia – specifically the jazzy animation set to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in Fantasia 2000. Other inspirations include Milt Kahl, Claire Keane, Mary Blair, and Maurice Noble.
I’m very nostalgic; I like the idea of maintaining a childlike sense of wonder. In terms of 2D character design, it’s so obviously not real. It’s magical. It’s not supposed to look like everyday life. I was very imaginative as a child, and I still have a lot of ideas that don’t necessarily involve “real life” situations. I want to bring that to the page (or tablet).

I am so excited to share my work with each and every one of you.

Enjoy!
